Associate Dean Arthur Cockfield's book NAFTA Tax Law and Policy: Resolving the Clash Between Economic and Sovereignty Issues ( Toronto : University of Toronto Press , 2005) has been short-listed for the Doug Purvis Memorial Prize. Professor Cockfield's book was one of five academic works that made the short-list for this prestigious award.
The Doug Purvis Memorial Prize was set up to honour the memory of the late Douglas D. Purvis, one of Canada 's leading policy economist. Each year, Purvis Prize recipients receive an award of $10,000 in recognition for a work of excellence relating to Canadian economic policy.
The winner of the 2005 Purvis Prize will be announced at the Purvis Luncheon at the 40th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Economics Association at Concordia University on May 27, 2006.
