Studying at the BISC will broaden your personal, academic, and professional horizons in an increasingly interdependent world. The program fees, which include tuition, room and board, and the week-long field studies trip, are less than the total cost of most study abroad or international exchange programs.
The BISC program fees include:
2012 Fees: $13,720 (subject to approval)
Program Fees do not include return airfare to and from London, supplemental health insurance, textbooks and course supplies, personal expenses and laundry, and lunches and dinners on overnight trips.
Note re Fees for LL.M. and Joint Program Students: MPA/JD and MIR/JD students who are completing the graduate year of their joint program are welcome to register in one of the Global Law Programs, which will enable them to complete the degree requirements for both programs in three academic years. LL.M. students are also welcome to register. For the spring term, such students remain registered in the MPA, MIR or LL.M. program, and pay tuition at that program's rate. They are also charged the field studies portion of the BISC fee, plus the full amount for the residence and meal plan. The total amount payable by such students for the term is quite close to the amount paid in total by JD students. The exact amount for 2012 for each program will be known early in the fall of 2011.
Financial Assistance
Queen's University, which is committed to making the BISC programs accessible, has established a number of awards and bursaries to assist students with the cost of attending the BISC. Bursary recipients also often access other forms of assistance such as government loans and grants or a personal student loan or line of credit.
(i) Bursaries
BISC bursaries are non-repayable grants available to students from any law school who have demonstrated financial need above the maximum funding available through government student financial assistance. All domestic students must have applied for government assistance in order to be considered for a bursary. The bursaries range in value.
Bursaries are available to both Queen's and non-Queen's students. Applicants from other universities are encouraged to investigate funding opportunities that may exist at their home institutions. In the past, a number of students from other universities have been successful in securing financial support from their home university to attend the Global Law Programs.
How to Apply for Bursaries
Students are encouraged to submit a bursary application when they apply for admission to the BISC. Students offered admission to the program will be informed of the bursary decision at the same time. Bursary applications will continue to be accepted until the beginning of the programs.
Bursary applications are available on-line at Queen's University Registrar's website or from the BISC Admissions Office.
Queen's Student Awards Office is a resource for all BISC students. Students seeking information or advice on any aspect of financing their BISC experience are encouraged to take advantage of the services available.

Information about the application procedure will be sent to the Queen's Law student listserv in the fall term.
(iii) Student Loans and Grants
Government student financial assistance in the form of student loans and grants is available to attend the BISC. For more information, please contact the Student Awards Office.
