First Semester: 12 teaching weeks from September to the end of November, with an exam period in December.
Second Semester: 12 teaching weeks from January to the end of April, with exams until the end of May; marks are not available until late June.  Note: Third year J.D. students who attend in the second semester will not be able to convocate in the spring with their classmates.

National University of Singapore

First Semester: Early August to end of November
Second Semester: Early January to end of April

EUROPE

University of Groningen

First Semester: September to mid-December (exam period ends early February)

Note: Queen's students are expected back for the beginning of classes in January. Students may therefore only select courses with a final paper, or courses with an exam scheduled before or in December. Students may choose courses from term 1A, or courses from terms 1A+1B or 1B that will be completed before the end of December. Students are not permitted to select courses with examinations scheduled for January . Rewrites will not be accommodated at Queen's unless the student fails on the first attempt.

Second Semester:  February to May (exam period ends early July)

Note: Groningen strongly prefers winter term exchange students to complete both terms 2A and 2B.  In exceptional circumstances, students who need to return for the Ontario licensing program may request permission to complete all their exchange credits in term 2A.  Note that completing all the required courses in two months involves a very heavy course load.  Students wishing to request permission to take courses in term 2A only should advise Nancy Somers as soon as they are offered a winter term place at Groningen.

Dates vary with the Jewish calendar. In general:
Semester 1: October to January (Queen's Law students can only attend in the second semester)
Semester 2: February to June
The Faculty tries to concentrate a significant number of courses in the first eight weeks of the spring semester to allow foreign students to be home by mid-May.
