Heenan Blaikie LLP has made a generous donation to enhance the popular practice-skills course Legal Writing and Written Advocacy at Queen’s Law. Norman Bacal of Toronto, the firm’s national co-managing partner, announced the gift to the class of more than 40 students on January 5.
Queen’s Law welcomed Professor Wanjiru Njoya from the London School of Economics as the second Distinguished Lecturer in Business Law in the 2011-12 Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP series. On November 25, Njoya presented “Workers on the Board of Directors: Prospects for Codetermination in European Law,” addressing the prospects for codetermination to gain influence in common law jurisdictions.
Roy Jahchan, MPA '11/Law '13, a political science graduate who spent a year working for the federal government, says the combined program in public administration and law at Queen’s is an ideal fit. “I’m interested in the interaction between law and policy, and in the public and private sectors,” he says, “and this program is the best way to study both sides of that.”
