Alumni returned to campus from across Canada and as far away as East Asia to reconnect and make new memories while enjoying the festivities on Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 20-21.

“Homecoming gave us a great chance to catch up, to reminisce, and to reignite old friendships,” says Jin Choi, Law’93, Managing Director & Head of Asia at Genii Capital in Seoul, South Korea. “Returning gives a fuller meaning to the Queen's Law experience! As alumni, we get to look back in retrospect while having pride in the future of our law school.”

The weekend festivities kicked off with a Friday evening networking social for all Law alumni at Jack Astor’s in downtown Kington. Saturday morning started with a tree dedication ceremony to commemorate Professor Art Cockfield, Law’93, with his family, classmates, and friends in attendance. In the afternoon, students guided alumni on tours of the Law Building, including classrooms where Professors Lisa Kerr, Rob Yalden, and Nicholas Bala, Law’77, gave short lectures on sentencing, corporate, and family law, respectively. Graduates later met new Dean Colleen Flood, who shared the school’s latest developments and top priorities, and they mingled once again at a Law Library reception before heading to their class dinners throughout Kingston.

“I am very happy to have attended my 10th anniversary reunion,” says Larry Wu, Law’13, a lawyer with Paramount Law LLP in Calgary. “To see alumni be so supportive, I feel proud to be a member of Queen's University. It’s important for alumni to return to our alma mater because the school gave us so much, and Homecoming is one way we can give back to Queen’s Law. This event is one that I’m not about to forget anytime soon.”
