The only program of its kind in Canada, Queen's Correctional Law Project provides legal advice, assistance and representation to inmates of federal penitentiaries in the Kingston area. Under the close supervision of Acting Director Bob Goddard and Staff Lawyer Kathy Ferreira, students in the associated Clinical Correctional Law course have a unique opportunity to develop legal research, analysis, interviewing and advocacy skills essential to effective representation. Students represent prisoner clients at Penitentiary Disciplinary Court and at National Parole Board hearings, and draft facta for inmate appeals against conviction and sentence before the Court of Appeal for Ontario. For more information, see the Correctional Law Project.
