Career Services

Students wishing to pursue a career as a practising lawyer in Canada must complete an J.D. and then satisfy the requirements established by the Law Society of the jurisdiction in which they wish to practice. In each province and territory the requirements include the completion of a Bar Admission Course (which may include lectures, seminars and examinations) and a period of articling (working under the supervision of a practising lawyer).

The role of our Career Services Office is to inform students of the wide range of summer, articling and long-term employment opportunities available, and to ensure that students have the necessary information and skills to reach their individual goals. Our Careers Services Office helps students find employment in a competitive job market by providing individual career counselling, a variety of seminars and workshops on a broad range of relevant topics, comprehensive information resources, and opportunities to meet employers. Major career services events include the annual Careers Day, attended by representatives from over 80 law firms and government offices from across Ontario, and on-campus interviews by Toronto employers recruiting second year summer students.  Visit the Career Services website.
