Queen's Law students have the unique opportunity to combine their pursuit of academic excellence with participation in exceptional communities in the Faculty, University and the City. We are renowned for our vibrant and enthusiastic student body and strong sense of community. Our students come from across Canada and bring a variety of different backgrounds and perspectives. During Orientation, our new students form friendships while being introduced to services, facilities and organizations available within the Faculty, on Queen's superbly-equipped campus, and in the charming and dynamic city of Kingston. The Queen's Law student body quickly develops into a strong, energetic, close-knit community, leading to life-long friendships and bonds. Complementing Law School participation, an overwhelming majority of our students find fulfillment volunteering with campus and local organizations and activities. This feeling is reciprocal, as Queen's Law students are also highly valued citizens of the University and City.
Student Organizations and Activities
All Queen's Law students are members of the Law Students' Society (LSS). The LSS serves as a vital forum for discussion, with its representatives serving on University governance boards as well as on the executive of the Society of Graduate and Professional Students (the central student government body for law, graduate and theology students - see www.sgps.cafor more information). Students may be appointed to important committees of the Faculty Board, setting policy and rendering decisions that have significant impact on the life of the Queen's Law School. There is also an opportunity to participate in a number of LSS committees such as the Judicial Constitutional and Elections Committee, Student Recruitment and Education Committee, Student-Alumni Relations Committee, and the Student Financial Assistance Committee.
To provide you with rewarding opportunities for extra-curricular involvement, the LSS also supports a wide range of student clubs, social functions and athletic activities. For more on the LSS, click here.
Queen’s Law is an energetic and spirited community, with engaging professors, supportive staff and excellent resources. The Queen’s Law experience doesn’t end at the classroom; active student clubs, unique clinical programs and international opportunities enrich the academic experience. Queen’s Law is a place to thrive, and we hope you will join us.
