Law students who enroll in Law 418: Clinical Correctional Law become Student Members of the Correctional Law Project. Student Members of the Correctional Law Project have a unique opportunity to develop interviewing, advocacy, legal research and analytical skills essential to effective representation of clients. Student Members of the Project represent clients at hearings before the National Parole Board and at trials in Penitentiary Disciplinary Courts. They prepare written facta for inmate appeals to the Court of Appeal for Ontario. They provide advice and assistance in many other areas of correctional law. All student work is supervised by the Project lawyers.
