The Queen's Law Journal publishes quality original work of broad interest in both English and French. We take a comprehensive view of legal scholarship; as well as publishing traditional legal writing, we endeavour to publish articles which cross the boundaries between law and other discipline. TheJournal is published twice a year, in the spring and fall. The deadline for submissions is May 1 for the Fall issue and September 1 for the Spring issue. We accept submissions in both electronic form and in hard copy.

    Assessment Process:

Papers submitted to the Journal are reviewed and assessed in two stages. First, the student editorial board does an internal assessment. Papers that pass this assessment are then sent for double-blind peer review by experts in the relevant subject area. Final publication decisions are made by the editorial board, based on the results of the review process.

    Guidelines for Authors:

The manuscripts that we publish are generally no more than 50 double-spaced pages in length. Although the page limit is flexible, papers that are substantially longer should be condensed before being submitted. Unless the author advises otherwise, we assume that a manuscript has not previously been published and is not being submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. We ask that submissions not be submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere.

We follow the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation, 7th ed. (Toronto: Carswell, 2002), which sets out rules for citation similar to those followed throughout common law jurisdictions. Each citation should be as complete as possible.

    Editorial Process:

After a manuscript has been accepted for publication, an editorial team will be assigned to it to proceed with the publication/editing process. Our editorial board is experienced in working with authors to refine their work for publication.

Article Topics of Interest to the Queen's Law Journal:

The Planning and Solicitation Editor of the Queen's Law Journal is responsible for keeping up with timely and novel topics in legal scholarship. While we welcome submissions from experienced writers, we also encourage articles from new writers. Please do not hesitate to contact the Planning & Solicitation Editor, with any questions, concerns or new ideas that you may have.
