Graduate from high school

Write the LSAT

  • Law School Admission Test
  • Test includes reading comprehension, analytical reasoning and logical reasoning
  • Held multiple times a year
  • Visit www.lsac.org 

Apply to law school

  • November 1 deadline to enter the following September for all Ontario law schools
  • Visit www.ouac.on.ca/olsas/ for more information

Attend & complete law school

  • In Canada, the Juris Doctor (JD) typically takes 3 years to complete
  • There are opportunities to combine your degree with other Masters level programs

Become licensed to practise law

  • Write the Barrister & Solicitor examinations
  • Gain practical experience working under the supervision of a licensed lawyer
  • Get called to the Bar - You’re  licensed to practise!
