This six-year combined program capitalizes on the strength of the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree offered by Smith School of Business and the rich business law program offered by Queen’s Law.  

This joint program is ideal for the next generation of business leaders; those who excel academically but also demonstrate the qualities essential for success beyond the bottom line.

In addition to gaining knowledge, foster your personal capacity in leadership, teamwork, cultural intelligence, resilience, communication, and presentation. Students interested in business, commercial or real estate law can find career pathways to employment in diverse workplaces including law clinics, firms, or large corporations.

The BCom/JD degree reduces completion time and tuition by one year for undergraduate students admitted to the BCom degree program at Smith. Students entering the third-year of the Smith BCom program are eligible to apply.

Admission Information

New for the 2027 application cycle applicants will apply through the Ontario Law School Application Service (OLSAS). Your completed application should consist of the following documents, and be submitted via directly through OLSAS here: https://www.ouac.on.ca/guide/olsas-queens/  

Applications for admission to the BCom/JD joint program will be accepted annually from December 1st to March 1st for the following September.

Supporting documentation, letters of reference, LSAT scores and non-Queen’s transcripts should follow as close to the deadline as possible, when available.

• Personal Statement
  • Must be authored and edited solely by the applicant. The personal statement should indicate the student’s reason for studying in the joint program and address the student’s aptitude, skills and suitability for the program (6000 characters maximum).

Assessment of applications will begin in January for applicants that have complete applications. We will also consider applications from those who have selected to write the January LSAT test, the scores for which are released in early February.
