I seek to advance my legal knowledge to integrate it to my work in equity, diversity and inclusion in the post secondary environment. Specifically, I wish to learn more about integrating dispute resolution and restorative justice legal approaches into the post secondary environment to enhance buy in for more equitable and inclusive practices in academic activities. I wish to bring more legal frameworks and approaches into my work to help build buy-in for embracing more equitable and inclusive values for the benefit of innovation, the common good of a growling diverse population, and addressing systemic issues that create barriers for underrepresented community members across Canada and seeking to access post-secondary education. While I never attained by a law degree, I have developed advanced knowledge of human and immigrant rights in Canada with my doctoral work and my current position as Queen’s Health Sciences Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigeneity, and Accessibility Initiatives Director. I wish to learn from experts at School of Law regarding restorative justice, dispute resolution, and any other legal frameworks that may apply to my work in the area of equity, diversity, and inclusion. My analytical and research expertise will compensate for the lack of a legal degree, as I have endless desire to build my knowledge for advancing social justice and addressing systemic barriers that create inequities for underrepresented communities.
