Peter Brady, who recently served for six years as a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP is returning to his role as General Counsel at Vale in their Global Base Metals business unit in Toronto.
As partner in the Litigation and Mining Groups at McCarthy's, Peter was also co-head of the firm’s National Environmental, Regulatory & Aboriginal Group. He advised and represented clients in all legal aspects of regulatory litigation, with particular emphasis in the areas of environmental law, occupational health & safety law and mining law. He also has extensive experience in anti-corruption compliance, investigations, and due diligence.
Previous to that, Peter served as Deputy General Counsel for seven years at Vale where Peter had a global legal mandate for Environment, Health and Safety, Litigation and Anti-Corruption compliance. As part of his role at Vale, in 2014 Peter received the Litigation Management Award at the Canadian General Counsel (CGCA) Awards.
Peter was called to the British Columbia bar in 1997, and to the Ontario bar in 1999. Peter served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Allan McEachern of the British Columbia Court of Appeal (1996-1997).
