Susan Sorensen is a senior lawyer and employee relations specialist. She brings over 25 years’ experience in the practice of labour and employment law, both in private practice and in-house environments. 

Susan began her career and rose to become a partner in the employment law group at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Toronto. Subsequently, she became a Director at Macquarie North America, where she led the Canadian labour relations and HR teams. Susan continues to act as a consultant for Macquarie on select matters. 

Susan also teaches Employment Law at Queen’s University and has developed and delivered legal seminars for the Human Resources Professionals Association on employment law, employment regulation and human rights law. Susan is the co-author of Employment Law: Solutions for the Canadian Workplace (2002) and has authored numerous articles on employment law. Most recently, she has a particular interest in the regulation of employment and the gig economy.

Susan has a J.D. from Queen’s University and an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
