The Cockfield Memorial Symposium: Tax Sovereignty in a Digital and Divided World, to be held on September 26-27, 2025, in Toronto, will feature leading tax scholars from Canada, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, England, Portugal, and Poland, as well as distinguished tax practitioners, a member of Parliament, and policymakers (see attached program). The event honours the memory of the late Art Cockfield, a beloved colleague, member of the Canadian tax community, and one of the world’s leading tax scholars, who passed away in 2022.
The symposium has received generous financial support from IFA Canada, the Canadian Tax Foundation, Osgoode Hall Law School, and the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University. Selected papers will be published in a special issue of the Canadian Tax Journal. Draft papers and slides will be made available to all registered participants.
Due to room capacity, in-person attendance is limited primarily to presenters, commentators, organizers, and Art’s family. Virtual attendance is open to all. To register and receive the link and symposium materials, please complete the form.
