The Problem and Transformation of Discriminatory Policing
We are at a critical juncture in the battle against discriminatory policing. Despite growing awareness of the interconnected issues of racial profiling and police violence in the public sphere, the legal response to these problems remains inadequate. Meanwhile, scholarly accounts of discriminatory policing often focus on police officers or the higher courts, emphasizing their roles in the failure to safeguard against unconstitutional stops and searches. This talk advocates for a different approach, rethinking discriminatory policing at the intersection of law, policing, and professional ethics. Learn more about the crises of accountability in policing and the path to transformation from a socio-legal perspective.
