The Juris Doctor (JD) degree is the educational credential in law required to seek accreditation as a practising lawyer in Canada and other common law jurisdictions around the world. The Queen’s JD degree is an eligible basis upon which to register for the bar examinations in the states of New York and Massachusetts, U.S.A.  

We prepare our students for the future by:

  • Offering a strong, broad curriculum in core and emerging fields of law, enriched with an international perspective.
  • Providing an increasing number of international exchange and study abroad opportunities, including the Global Law Programs at Herstmonceux Castle in Sussex, England.
  • Presenting opportunities to apply legal knowledge and skills with four first-rate clinical programs, competitive moots and Pro Bono Students Canada.
  • Offering experience in legal scholarship and editing through the Queen's Law Journal and the Canadian Labour and Employment Law Journal.
