On June 21, in downtown Kingston's entertainment center, family, friends, faculty, and staff enthusiastically celebrated the latest graduates from five programs as they walked across the stage. Degrees were conferred on 212 JD students, 8 LLM students, and 2 PhD in Law students. Additionally, 79 students earned an undergraduate Certificate in Law, while 157 students received a Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law.
Professor Val Napoleon, the Law Foundation Chair of Indigenous Justice & Governance at the University of Victoria, received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree and addressed the class. (Read her remarks.)
Medals were given to JD graduates with the highest cumulative averages: A.J. Davidson, Ari Derohanesian, and Brynne Thomas. Olivia Kuzmich received the Dean’s Key award for best embodying community values, collegiality, professionalism, service, and academic excellence. Dean’s Scholar Awards were presented to the JD graduates with the highest third-year averages: Andrada Marinescu (Gold Scholar), Patrick Dolan (Silver Scholar), and Lydia Horton (Bronze Scholar).
Following the ceremony, the newest alumni and their guests got together for an on-campus reception in Ban Righ Hall with Dean Colleen M. Flood, faculty, and staff.
