Admissions staff members from Queen’s Law are coming to a school near you this fall! Aimee Burtch, Recruitment & Admissions Manager, and Patti Evans, Admissions & Registration Assistant, will be on the road to meet with prospective students and answer any questions they have about the law program at Queen’s.

The recruitment cycle kicks off with the Ontario Universities’ Fair (OUF) on Sept. 25. More than 120,000 high-school students, parents and educators are expected to attend this annual three-day event held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Following the OUF, the admissions team is off to the largest event in the country for university students who are interested in studying law. The Canadian JD Forum, hosted by the Law School Admissions Council, brings together most Canadian law schools, as well as many from the U.S. and overseas. “We expect to chat with over 300 students at the forum,” says Burtch, of the one-day event taking place on Sept. 28 at Toronto’s Hyatt Regency.

Throughout the remainder of the fall, admissions staff members will be travelling to several universities across Ontario, as well as making a few stops in British Columbia and Alberta.

“We’re happy to speak with everyone!” exclaims Burtch. “These events give us a great way to meet a lot of our prospective students and allow us to give advice and answer some of the more personalized questions that may not be as readily available on our website or in our print materials.”

Queen’s Law admissions personnel are also very willing to arrange information sessions and tours of the law school for interested groups such as undergraduate pre-law societies, campus groups with a special interest in law, and high-school guidance counsellors and law teachers. Sessions can be held in-person or virtually through a webinar. To request their participation at career information fair or to arrange an information presentation by them, email jd@queensu.ca.
