Teaming up with the Kingston Frontenacs and the Queen’s Law hockey team, the Law Faculty is offering its community members an evening of excitement and camaraderie at the K-Rock Centre on February 2, 2018. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends can join activities both on and off the ice before cheering on the city’s OHL squad in this “Winter Classic” that is raising funds for the Boys and Girls Club.

“This event is part of our initiative to build a stronger presence in the city,” says Heather Cole, Law’96, Assistant Dean of Students. "We want Queen’s Law to be a leader in the community, sponsoring events and helping organizations that provide needed services to Kingston.”

Students like Colby Harris, Law’19, event co-organizer and Assistant Captain of the Queen’s Law hockey team, are ready to contribute to that goal. “We have an incredibly tight-knit community here at Queen's Law, but we think it’s just as important to get involved in the greater Kingston community as well,” he says. “This event is the perfect way to start immersing ourselves into that community and it’s also a fun way to give back to an awesome local organization.”

By purchasing a ticket, participants can take to the ice for a pre-game skate with the Queen’s Law team, enjoy a private reception and watch the NHL stars of tomorrow in Major Junior A action as the Frontenacs face off against their east-division rivals, the Oshawa Generals.

Tickets are $20 ($15 for children aged 10 and under) and seating is in section 114.

“We can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday evening in winter than by getting together to socialize, take in a hockey game and give back to the community that we call home,” says Harris. “We hope to see as many of you out as possible!”
