Materials and Instructions for Fall 2019 Tryouts

FALL 2019
 

1. Read the Moot Descriptions and Pre-requisites

2. Email your Tryout Registration Form and unofficial transcript together to Carol.Johnson@Queensu.ca by 4 September 2019 deadline. (links removed)

3. Choose either the  R v Chung 2019 BCCA 206 (criminal) or Merrifield v Canada (Attorney General), 2019 ONCA 205 (civil) problem for your tryout (links removed)

4. Self-book your tryout date and time:  Friday, September 6, Saturday, September 7, Sunday, September 8 (links removed)

Students on exchange may request a Zoom video conference tryout (free app available from Zoom website or App Play Store).  Other exceptional circumstances may be considered.  Contact Professor Lisa Kerr to seek permission and then contact Carol.Johnson to book you one of the reserved time slots or book yourself into an open time spot. YOU MUST HAVE ZOOM INSTALLED AND YOU MUST RECEIVE A LINK FROM THE LAW SCHOOL. Contact Carol.Johnson@Queensu.ca by 5 September if you do not receive the Zoom video conference link from the law school.

7. Out of courtesy to the judges and other students commit or cancel by 4 September 2019

8. Attend your tryout. Arrive 5 minutes early and bring water to sip. (It quenches your thirst and helps you pace yourself)

9. WHEN PLACED ON A TEAM (Add/Drop):

Drop a course, if necessary, through Solus and add your mooting course through submission of the Competitive Moot Form to Student Services Office by Add/Drop deadlines posted by the law school. Speak with Margie Gordon in Student Services if you have questions about Add/Drop.

NOTE: Grades are deferred until the winter term after the moot has taken place.
