Maya Kawale brings a background in business law to the clinic. She is passionate about small businesses and actively being engaged in giving back to the local business community.

Maya has a Specialization in Sociology from Western University (2022), and is going into her second year at Queen’s Law. She worked at a corporate law firm in downtown Toronto during her 1L summer, bolstering her legal skills and knowledge about corporate law.

In her first year, she was a student volunteer with Pro Bono Students Canada and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, a part of the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund, and a choreographer for Queen’s Law Cancer Society’s Cabaret for a Cure. In this upcoming year, Maya will serve as the Vice President Professional for the Society of Graduate and Professional Students, the Managing Editor of Marketing for the Canadian Journal of Commercial Arbitration, a member of the Queen’s Law Students’ Society Elections Committee, and as an Orientation Leader.

Maya is looking forward to broadening her knowledge of corporate law and being able to aid her clients at the clinic with a dedication to Queen’s’ pro bono practice.
