From attending Appellate Body hearings and Dispute Settlement Body meetings to drafting third party submissions and meeting with delegates from other Member states, she contributed to Canada's involvement in WTO disputes.

  • Rachel Floyd, Law'16, at the South African Human Rights Commission in the summer of 2014. As an intern with the organization, she assisted in the investigation of alleged violations by conducting legal research on a wide variety of human rights issues, consulting with complainants and drafting legal reports based on the Commission’s findings.

  • Julie Harmgardt, Law'16, in New Delhi, where she interned at the Human Rights Law Network in the summer of 2014. Her work, which included legal research and field work on India's public healthcare system, domestic violence, acid attacks and HIV/AIDS discrimination, will be used to support the Network’s petitions for social change through public interest litigation.

Queen’s Law’s internship funding programs allow students to gain legal knowledge and skills by contributing to the public interest in Canada and abroad as summer interns. With financial support from the Torys Public Summer Internship Award Program and the Dean’s Excellence Fund, students can accept unpaid summer internships with not-for-profit and public-interest agencies.
