New award ensures Law’12 alumna’s name will live on
Two students canoe on Elbow Lake during Professor Lindsay Borrows’ first on-the-land course in September 2022. There, they practised the Indigenous legal method of drawing law from nature. In September 2025, Borrows will launch an evolved version of that course: the Anishinaabe Law Field School.

From land-based learning to a new first-year course, Queen’s Law is expanding its curriculum to prepare students for reconciliation-focused legal practice – responding not only to the TRC’s Call to Action #28, but to a growing societal demand for lawyers who understand and respect Indigenous laws and communities.
